Re: Does this belong to anyone?

If you look in the back and it has a couple of spare tires, jack and box full of adapters...then it's Joe's  I did a double-take, but I have "100% Electric" on the front bumper and no license plate - and I haven't been up to that Chabot facility, but it looks like an interesting plac...

Re: Skinnier rear tires on front rims

I loved those ultra-LRR Bridgestone Potenza RE92, and it never occurred to me that this tire would fit the Gen1 Honda Insight SpaceSaver spare wheel. :o Those wheels are extremely light and designed for the Insight which weighs 1,856 to 1,964 lbs, depending on configuration. rmay635703, are you sayi...

Re: Adapters

...But I want to be safe so a few extra bucks may be worth it... Most of the past discussion has been dealing with current and you should be ok using any of the connectors and that #10AWG extension cord from an i-MiEV operating current perspective. Voltage You are using 120vac connectors for either...

Re: Hypermiling the i-MiEV

I personally find it impossible to keep my foot in that 'sweet spot' of zero power and zero regen, confirmed by using CaniOn. There is no difference in the vehicle's energy consumption efficiency amongst D, ECO, and B. Any efficiency improvement comes from NOT using the brake, and in ECO the vehicle...

Re: Now MR BEAN won’t charge!

For those of you who can't see it, the photo shows the READY light on, the battery symbol lit up, the tire with an exclamation point through it, and the car symbol with an exclamation point through it. jray3, hopefully it's just the 12v battery (you might have jinxed it by bragging about it recently...

Re: Adapters

Last I checked, 30A dryer cords were #8AWG and 50A oven cords were #6AWG. I think both are considered continuous service. #10AWG extension cord should be fine for the i-MiEV, even at 100'. Let's check: #10AWG wire has a resistance of 0.9989Ω/1000ft or 0.09989Ω/100ft Thus, round-trip 200ft wire has a...

Re: Adapters

Good for us to be discussing safety, and we need to be mindful that charging our i-MiEVs is considered a steady-state load which means every connector should be derated to 80% of its specified amperage. This is why 12A should be the maximum EVSE draw on a conventional 120vac 15A outlet. High amperag...

Yawn. It self-extinguished just as the fire department got there. There were 174,000 vehicle fires in the US in 2015. https://www.nfpa.org/News-and-Research/Fire-statistics-and-reports/Fire-statistics/Vehicle-fires/Highway-vehicle-fires From https://www.etonline.com/tesla-responds-to-extraordinarily...

Re: Skinnier rear tires on front rims

165/65r14’s (re92’s) have a lower rolling resistance and are dimensionally the same as the stock front tires. Lightweight aluminum Rims off the Honda Insight fit as well, I bought an extra pair for $25... You don't mean the SpaceSaver rims, do you? http://www.katiekat.net/Vehicles/Mitsi/MitsiHondaS...

Re: A New Tire For Us!

Don, great to hear that and I've already passed this on to my neighbor and the fellow who bought my first i-MiEV. Any problems with the stability control system kicking in when pushed on curves?
