Re: Better charging controls

Andrew, to answer your question, my wife and I had used two of these mechanical timers for about 5-7 years on our two i-MiEVs with no OBC issues (touch wood). Since I almost always never charge to 100% and want to stop the charging at around 12-13 bars, it became second nature to simply eyeball the ...

Re: Do you have a charger remote control you DON'T use much??

Yes, that is indeed Aerowhatt's wife posting. I am really saddened, as he and I had many spirited discussions on this forum and he contributed many great ideas to us all. I had suggested that she might consider posting on this forum if she decides to sell the car. Even though I had suggested keeping...

Re: Got Solar!

Congratulations on putting that contraption together! Yes, very soon the temperatures will be able to get dangerously hot so make sure you have some way of limiting the upper temperature as well as having an overpressure relief valve (one probably came with the tank). A blown pipe spewing steam and ...

Re: Turtle at Half Charge Under Load?!?!?!

Graveaxis, thanks for the screenshot and information and updating your location. Looks to me like there is one seriously-weakened cell (#11) and a few other ones that aren't happy, and that's at 32%SoC. Question: while driving down the highway and flooring the accelerator and the Turtle shows up, is...

Re: Turtle at Half Charge Under Load?!?!?!

Disturbing news about Mitsubishi's responses, not boding well for the future. Corporate change? Graveaxis, do you have some screenshots or photos of your most extreme cell voltage disparity readouts? Interested in knowing what those voltages are at what overall SoC? Does your tool provide a battery ...

Aerowhatt, I sent you a Private Message, and add my sincerest condolences to you. In answer to your question, keep the Remote with the car, as it adds value to the car itself.

Acensor, I may have a lead on a Remote and I'm trying to contact him. Will let you know if anything develops.

Re: MCU 20A 450VDC fuse investigation

Kenny, thank you for running those simulations. Interesting to me is how design tools have evolved over the years. Yes, count me in for a group buy (two plus one spare), although I'll probably hold off installing until after my warranty runs out as I'd like a new-design OBC from Mitsu. Re: clipped-i...

Re: Electrify America CHAdeMO Possible Issue

So, after a longer trip down the coast today in the i-MiEV, on the way home I decided to stop at the brand-new EA group of charging stations at the Bank of America in downtown Los Gatos. https://www.plugshare.com/location/193052 One J1772 station and three dual-port DCFC stations, only one of which ...

Re: Electrify America CHAdeMO Possible Issue

Before I took my car in to get repaired I had used the EA system for DCQC about about 20 times without issue. After getting it repaired it kept trying to initiate charging, but never succeeded and also would not release the holster taking about an hour each time before it released. Ben, were you on...

... and be sure to experiment with tire pressures, recognizing that 'stock' is 36psi (248kPa). It's my subjective belief that higher pressures are conducive to better i-MiEV handling and range improvement, at the expense of some teeth falling out
