Re: ChargePoint Charging Question

Wow, that is a definite steady-state power reduction! Hmmm, it may be a crude scheme for protecting the power chain: after detecting a drop in voltage, the source cuts back the current just in case the voltage drop was caused by a poor (i.e., higher-resistance) connection. Tesla does this (gradually...

Re: ChargePoint Charging Question

I've used a lot of ChargePoint EVSEs but, quite frankly, never paid much attention to the EVSE's reaction to the i-MiEV's 'timeout' issue as I'd get roughly the amount of charge expected, recognizing that many of them use 208vac and not 240vac. kevin1956murray, it might be a good idea to shoot an em...

Re: XS Power 12V battery

WReed82, I'm with you in liking AGMs. There are some interesting Lithium 12V batteries: https://www.batterystuff.com/batteries/motorcycle/antigravity-atx-12-hd-12v-re-start-lithium-ion-battery-ag-atx12-hd-rs.html Kinda pricey! But if it lasts a really long time, this would be ok with me. I've e-mail...

I couldn't figure out how to copy WReed82's post from another thread into here under his monniker -

What an appropriate play on words! The name is Irish and means 'intoxicating'! :D

Re: XS Power 12V battery

Hi Weogo, because we have so many 12v battery threads I renamed yours to be XS Power specific. For completeness, the OEM Yuasa 34B19L(S) shows L = 185mm (7.3"), W = 125mm(4.9"), H = 202mm(8"), Overall H = 224mm(8.8") Ref: 12V Battery - All You EVer Wanted To Know I think you need...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

So, just a quick warning to Bolt owners. After watching this teardown video, it appears that because of an apparent bad decision in firmware, actual damage to the drive unit can occur if one coasts too long in Neutral. This is because the entire drive unit is lubricated and cooled internally by a 1...

Re: Inverter to power refrigerator during power outage

CZero - Whoa! You need to do the math. Any energy being removed from the 12v battery will be replaced by the dc-dc converter from the i-MiEV traction pack. For example, a 150W output from the inverter means about 16A out of the 12v battery which means that the i-MiEV dc-dc needs to supply this curre...

Re: A Very Quick Tesla Powered Honda S2000

What I'm impressed by is their sophisticated level of hacking/reverse-engineering - the Volt battery pack, the reprogramming of the Tesla motor drive, and the 7.2kW Bolt OBC. hmmm... :ugeek:

Re: Electric Car Review Talking Points

Adding to the talking points:

Service requirements - real or 'make-work'? What, what intervals, and at what cost?

Warranty -
Standard covers what and for how long?
Battery only or motor+drivetrain, and for how many years?
Battery percentage degradation or only outright failure?

Re: Observations and Questions about a high mileage battery

Hey Pete,

I'd be inclined to simply take it to a Mitsubishi dealer and tell them you have a problem CHAdeMO charging the car to its usual 80%.
