i-MiEV Salvage Opportunity

Here's another one. Tis a pity these cars are being totalled for such seemingly minor damage. Replace the airbag, bolt on a hood, and you're good to go!

Re: Global Warming's Terrifying New Math

The connectors and cables aren't quite so scary as voltage rises to keep the amps down. Here's a 440V 500A (220 kW) marine umbilical. http://generalmarineproductsinc.com/ProductSheet.pdf I have a friend working on a quite novel DC connector for buses and ships. No wonder Porsche is pursuing 800V EV ...

Re: Public Charging Station Customers

Won't work everywhere. Joe said the daytime rate at his house is 45 cents IIRC. Hard for the owner of the charging stations to make any money for less than about 75 cents Don Yep, that's one more downside to TOU pricing and another push towards big-battery EVs. Gas pricing doesn't quadruple during ...

Re: Gen 2 Honda Fit EV

. . . . and you can BUY it - Last generation was lease only, wasn't it? Don It was only a lease and only in Blue. One of them came up from CA and was turned in at my local dealer at the end of lease, and they claimed to be under strict orders to not allow any customer access. No lookee, no touchee,...

Gen 2 Honda Fit EV

https://insideevs.com/hondas-new-186-mile-electric-fit-will-be-priced-below-20000/ Looks like a game changer- a real 150 mile EV version of a popular model that costs under $12,500 after the Federal tax credit. Those cynical slow-movers at Honda could really wallop Nissan when one compares the Fit E...

Re: Public Charging Station Customers

I agree that public L2 should be inexpensive. Less than gas, but not free. At $2.50/gallon, a fleet average approaching 25 mpg and 250 Wh/mile, my rule of thumb is a breakeven point of $0.10/mile or $0.40/kWh. That's a 400% markup on electricity from Puget Sound Energy, and coincides nicely with the...

Re: 97 miles on single charge with 2012 Mitsubishi iMiEV (US model)

Bradley's questions are hard to answer- but we can be confident that the driving mode makes absolutely no difference in energy use during steady-state cruising, it only differs during acceleration and deceleration. I've found N to be useful in the mountains, as at 60+ mph, the i-MiEV's fairly poor a...

Re: Public Charging Station Customers

Fun times, Joe, but I'll suggest an amendment to your below list as follows. #5, EV commuters have trouble using L1 or L2 if it isn't within easy walking distance, so may need DCFC. #7, same for apartment dwellers, plus the insecurity of offsite parking at night, even if within walking distance. The...

Re: 12V battery BCI Size?

THX Don- My dad dutifully disconnected mom's original i-MiEV battery before putting the car into hibernation for 4 months, but without a 12V float it self-discharged down to 4 volts!

12V battery BCI Size?

I thought that I'd seen this posted, but searches revealed nothing. Anybody know the BCI group number offhand?
