Re: EV Roadmap

I also hooked up with Dave Patterson, the now former Mitsubishi engineer who was responsible for bringing the i-MiEV to the USA! He’s about to sell one of his two I-MiEV, but I’ve got dibs in case MR BEAN gets an expensive diagnosis!

EV Roadmap

Portland Oregon is home to the EV ROADMAP conference, currently in its 11th running! I dare say it is the best annual EV conference in the USA, attracting international attention, with a large Dutch contingent this year, and a boatload of Norwegians last time. https://evroadmapconference.com/ The go...

Now MR BEAN won’t charge!

So last week the final payment on my 5 yr, 0% financing clears the bank and I’m waiting for the title to arrive free and clear while gorging on information here in Portland at the 11th annual EV Roadmap conference, and the wife sends this.. :o https://www.dropbox.com/s/1o2ndu8m67n2bxf/IMG_2383.JPG P...

Re: Should I buy a 2010-2011 i-Miev here in Brazil???

Sound like the pack is 'waking up' after its long hibernation. My naive theory is that some capacity should return with regular use, though the first few weeks of regular use should also be when any defective cell shows itself. I don't see your original mission parameters. If a car with 50 kilometer...

Re: A New Tire For Us!

Thanks Don, I've ordered a pair of Achilles as well. Bit nervous about the name, though. Hope I don't have a blowout on the left rear tire....

Re: Skinnier rear tires on front rims

Agreed- about the only way we'll get lower Rolling Resistance is to put on steel wheels, and with our track width of 55.9″ front, 54.3″ rear compared to the standard railroad gauge of 56.5", that should be quite possible! "twould be a great railroad 'scooter' car. Certainly better than a D...

Re: Hatched a Tesla

I appreciate driving diversity, so could probably get used to jumping between a Tesla and the i-MiEV as Fiddler John and JoeS do, though what a night and day difference! I had the privilege of using a friend's Model S 60 for the weekend. We went to a wedding 130 miles away and also spent a long day ...

Re: 12 kW chademo charging

Looks like that Sunny Boy Storage inverter is finally coming to the US market this summer. http://www.freecleansolar.com/SMA-Sunny-Boy-Storage-3-8-Battery-Inverter-p/sbs3.8.htm $2500 for 3.8 kW solar and 2 kW backup from a 360V battery pack. I'm picturing that with a Chademo cable on the Sunny Boy S...

Re: Car not charging,..DC/DC converter failure. not what we expected.

Wow, talk about a supportive community! Thanks Kiev, coulomb, electronpusher and Joe! Do ya think that the extra insulating sleeve of clear vinyl that 'browned out' is still a good thing, or would removing it allow for better wire cooling and prevent future full failure/ short circuit? Just popping ...

Re: i-MiEV in film trailer

Yep, took some kids to see "Ready Player One" this weekend. 1st Gen EVs all over the screen. More of a tweener/teen movie due to language. Entirely predictable audience interpretation: Girls said "See, video games will ruin the world!" and the boy responded that "Maybe, but ...
