Re: help locating a used on board charger

Yes, that's the charger that I transplanted. The motor and inverter are still in the B&R warehouse (well, at least I saw the motor). They had no clue on component naming, so I negotiated down the charger price. True-to-form, their manager sits behind a one-way mirror and that ass behind the glas...

Re: Supplemental cooling for the charger.

Hey Aerowhatt, could you post a materials list and perhaps a drawing of your fan bracket? I'd like to get that cooling mod made while the weather is still so hot. Sure I will do that as soon as I can. Some life complications at present unfortunately. What would be best perhaps a template for the br...

Re: help locating a used on board charger

1pk- congrats on the repair! Which yard in Tacoma crushed a car after radio removal only? A very nice black car was auctioned recently here and I haven't found where it landed. If you were after the blue n white car at B&R Auto Wrecking, take some solace that I got basically EVerything BUT the m...

I'd go for one close to $800- will be experimenting this winter with a stick-on grid for my current cracked windshield....

Re: Cold weather folk..... Heated windshield?

How would that differ from a stick-on defroster grid, which is quite affordable and you 'get used to' looking through. https://www.frostfighter.com/clear-view-defrosters-list-12V-1.htm The higher-end OEM heated windshields use a finer grid, which still bothers some drivers... https://www.autoblog.co...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger, DC-DC Converter

I have access to a wrecked IMIEV that is also a 2010, but the part number on the working charger inside it is different, and the inside PCBs are totally different. I think the Wrecked IMIEV was a beginning of year 2010 model, and my friends IMIEV is End of Year 2010 model. The junkyard charger that...

More positive press Re: Most Affordable

In the vein of many early technology adopters, this owner's trip diary is a bit wordy/nerdy, but it's a nice effort to educate on how straightforward it is to take a trip far beyond an EV's stated range. https://cleantechnica.com/2018/07/29/taking-my-electric-city-car-on-a-long-distance-journey/

Re: Supplemental cooling for the charger.

Jay if I'm understanding your description of the motor bay hatch insulation on your 2012 it actually touches the top of the charger unit? The 2014 hatch definitely has some air space between the hatch sound insulation and the top of the charger. I would guess somewhere around 3/4 of an inch. The in...
