Re: Failed traction battery. How many weeks does Mitsubishi make you wait?

David Patterson was the US Mitsu Engineer who brought the car here and was a regular at the EV Roadmap Conference in 2012-14, but hasn't been in the last few years. I'm not sure he's still with the company, but would be a great inside contact if we could coaxe him out of the shadows. https://insidee...

Re: Future of Public EV Charging

And then we have the BLINK IPO. The outfit that purchased the Blink Network out of bankruptcy, Car Charging Group, renamed themselves Blink, and is now requesting charity or wildly optimistic stock purchases for an IPO that will primarily pay down debt, including back bonuses to former executives an...

Re: Future of Public EV Charging

Indeed, the high NRG fees have made them my last resort. Seattle City Light is going to deploy a number of DCFC to fill the 'donut hole' left in 2012 by the Blink bankruptcy and never fixed. However, they announced that pricing would be a fixed per-session fee in the neighborhood of $11! In response...

Re: Mouse in the Miev!

I hadn't heard of bioplastics as auto wiring insulation, but it checks out! https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaeldunne/2017/02/19/rats-new-cars-soy-coated-wires-give-rodents-plenty-to-chew-on/#458f208f780a Of course, there's even a website dedicated to the issue, and it does not list Mitsubishi as an...

Re: Mouse in the Miev!

We live next to a pasture and I've had mouse damage to a few cars over the years (what's so appetizing about wire insulation!), and IIRC, I once found droppings in the i-MIEV, but no damage. I can't think of anything particularly inviting or vulnerable about our cars, other than as the most-used veh...

Re: Outlander PHEV thread

Ditto on the gearing issue, and from the confusing stats I found on Joe's 8M Telstar, it appears that the boat weighs somewhere between 2800 and 3500 lb, plus trailer weight. A substantial load for mountaineering... Here's a good snip from the Outlander PHEV forum. Looks good for climbing a slippery...

Re: What tire would you recommend?

I just want some inexpensive tread on my i-MiEV to complement its otherwise ridiculously-low operating cost!! Two questions - 1. Where do I look to find used i-MiEV tires and wheels from all those salvaged wrecked i-MiEVs? 2. What brands in our tire sizes have y'all purchased in the US recently? Wh...

Outlander PHEV test drive report

Finally got a test drive in today. My dealer managed to deliver four of them before New Years'. Interior appointments and instrumentation are a generation beyond and level above the i-MiEV. Wind and tire noise is noticeably lesser, and the SIX selectable regen intensities via flappy paddles on the s...

I'd take 'em. I need a new summer set and they'll probably only last one more year in Jay Duty!

Tire lifespan, was Re: EV prices in the next 3 years.

We will be changing tires based on their 5 year life span rather than because they're worn out Don I'm not finding any real definitive guide to tire aging, other than direct sunlight and hot weather being bad, as well as coastal "salt air". Edmunds goes conservative, with a 6-10 year repl...
