Re: Wanted: Motor inverter/controller

Hi Sjaber,
I'm keeping a spare, but do know where more are. What's your location? There's usually a few listed on www.car-part.com, but don't count on junkyards to know the difference between the inverter and the battery charger. Please tell us more about your project.

Re: Battery Replacement Under Warranty, New Warranty Time

Normally you only get the original warranty and the clock does not restart on any replaced parts. That way they don't replace a battery at 7 years and get obligated for another 8 years and another 100,000 miles of warranty.

Re: Battery pack replacement, complete 50N pack?

Thanks for the poke, Don. I have a 2014 pack still sitting in storage, as the salvaged 2012 pack powering MR BEAN is still quite healthy, and COVID killed my travel plans for a Christmas upgrade to my mother's 2012 with the the 2014 pack. I'm betting it will work, but would be happy for a paying cus...

Re: Deep Cycle Accy Batty

I don't think that a deep cycle battery would be worth any cost premium, as our original flooded batteries were very well managed and used very little water. My original starting battery still tested quite good after 6 years when it was replaced to eliminate that variable at the urging of others, an...

Supplemental Battery

A boost battery for occasional road trip use, or to prop up a degraded pack has long been on this community's want list. There finally appear to be some practical options, one example below. First, the Bluetti AC200P ]has 2 kWH of LiFePO4 batteries in a 67 lb package that includes a pure sine wave i...

Re: additional electric heater

I'll echo Don's comments, adding that I ran the numbers a few years back and concluded that a preheated hot water bottle carries more Btu/lb than even fully charged LiFePO4 batteries can. That water bottle could be in your lap, a lumbar support, or as advanced as a custom metal tank on the floorboar...

Congrats Dale. Well, it does seem that spouses are sometimes the hardest of all to impress. Whether you go buy yourself something or await higher returns, she knows you just saved a bundle!

Good 'on ya, Ben Brown! You've been a valuable contributor to this forum for 4+ years now, and member content like your article is a great ingredient for revitalization of the Electric Auto Association! Having a low range EV as your sole transportation is quite challenging for most folks, but even l...

Re: Hi everyone....have two 2012 I-Mievs.....need help....

Dale, I recommend the iCarsoft i909 as a fine scan tool that can read and clear the codes from an i-MiEV. It costs $104 on Amazon. The tool is simple, but since it only has 6 buttons, is a bit slow and clunky to use (CaniOn is much better for individual cell voltages and temperature readings)- and t...

Re: Cost to replace an i-miev battery?

So sorry to see this condition for your wife. Continue taking care of her, and thanks for popping back in. If you do restart the battery project, hopefully some of us will have more info to contribute. Good Luck, Jay
