Re: Charging experience in the UK

Thanks for the reply. I thought I would be able to use all type 2 chargers with my type 2 to 1 cable? I have used the 7kw ones before but there are others rated at 22kw and 43kw. I thought that these should be able to be connected and charge at 3.3kw? The charging post I was trying to use usually ha...

Charging experience in the UK

Hello all, Is there anyone still on the forums in the UK (or possibly anywhere else) who has ever had problems with higher powered EVSEs? The infrastructure in the UK is a lot better than in the States but we're a smaller country. There are a few Chademo chargers nearby and plently of type 2 7kw evs...

Re: What tire would you recommend?

My car has 26k miles on it but the tyres have been replaced at least once (in 2015) and the front ones are feathering on the edges. Being in the UK, we have EU tyre labeling which claims to rate the efficiency of the tyres. http://www.blackcircles.com/popups/eu-tyre-label The hankooks (which I curre...

Thanks for this, JoeS.

Car stopped charging temporarily

I've had my 2011 ion for 3 months now - still enjoying the experience but had a problem today. Anyone else ever experienced the following? The car had 9 bars of charge. I was going on a 40+ mile journey with most of that in 60+mph/100km/h traffic so I wanted to charge up. I plugged the car in at hom...

Re: Best charging practices for battery longevity

Thanks for your replies jray and Brian.
I am still getting used to my car but loving it.
Why can't tesla make a more basic car? The model 3 is still too complicated with the massive screen!
A 40kwh imiev? That'd be great :D

Re: Best charging practices for battery longevity

Thanks for the reply jray3. Good to hear that Mr bean is keeping well! To you ever charge using CHAdeMO? Since my car is new to me I have been charging up to 100% when I've been making longer journeys (40 miles with 30 miles of freeways - 70mph traffic) Today I drove after charging up to 13 bars and...

Re: Best charging practices for battery longevity

Thanks for the quick reply guys. :D Don, wouldn't starting the car also charge up the 12v battery when storing long term? 12v battery concerns me more than the traction battery - seems strange that it's a battery you have to top up instead of a sealed unit like most ICE car batteries. Don't want to ...

Re: Best charging practices for battery longevity

Nice to see these forums are still alive! I am a relatively new owner of an ion, but I noticed that the manual of the i-miev (US version) states that "What do I do if I need to store my mitsubishi i for a long period of time? Do not disconnect the battery or any of the i's cables. Make sure the...

Re: Using the battery as an emergency supply

Hi All, New user here. I just bought my ion (2011 model) 3 weeks ago. The 12v option looks like it will work for pretty much all EVs. Just stumbled upon this video published today - How To Power Your House In an Emergency From Your Electric Car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADqk4IjzjXs Hope this h...
