Re: Can Bus Reverse Engineering for the iMiev

Interesting project, but you'd want to be super careful injecting any CAN messages that override the throttle mapping of the car as a bug or misunderstanding of the messages you're sending could result in uncontrolled acceleration. Yes I know that the 3rd party CAN bus based cruise controls ...

Re: Ah Rate And Full Charge

While driving the car it uses the last 15 miles of average consumption to calculate it, however it does not use just the last 15 miles driven when showing the full charge estimate. Some other calculation method is used there. I've proven this to my satisfaction by carefully keeping a log of driving...

Re: Ah Rate And Full Charge

DBMandrake, without becoming obsessive about it I would keep an eye on Cell #70... :geek: Both cells 25 and 70 are slightly weak by about the same amount - the screenshot just didn't catch them at a moment when they were both the same. Yes I am keeping a close watch on them - as I have only had Can...

Re: Ah Rate And Full Charge

What does Canion report for the pack voltage and for the difference between the max and min cell voltage? It's important for this test to have any validity that the car is first charged to 100% and left to fully balance the cells (wait until it switches the charger off) and then discharge it to a k...

Re: Ah Rate And Full Charge

I wouldn't call the RR display 'meaningless' as it is reporting on how you're using the car, which can be very helpful for you to get the most out of it. If you're recharging to 84, but can't actually drive 62, then that probably means that your 15 mile trip home just prior to recharging is very di...

Re: Ah Rate And Full Charge

Not sure what you mean by "Ah rate" - the Ah figure shown on the first screen is the battery management system's estimation of the usable Ah capacity of the battery. This figure doesn't depend on the current state of charge, but is an estimate of the usable full charge capacity. As for wha...

Re: Battery charging: Full versus Partial

Different cells: 18650 cylinder versus the LEV50 prismatic, and they use a different chemistry. Yuasa datasheet for our cells shows cycle life data of 5500 cycles at 100% DOD depth of discharge from 4.1 down to 2.75 with a loss of only 20% over that period (i.e 80% remaining). The design life is 10...

Re: Charging Interruption

Just thought I'd reopen this topic, in case anyone is recording CaniOn during this Timeout to confirm DBMandrake's hypothesis that the cells are being balanced during this interval. As far as I know, Canion can't report the state of the cell balancers ? In which case you could only infer that balan...

Re: Is my battery dying ?

Strange. The image is hosted on google drive - same as all my other images. I just checked on a browser that was not logged into my google account and I was able to view the image. I also tried it in both Chrome and IE. So not sure why you can't see the image! Can anyone else see it ? Unfortunately ...
