Re: 2nd Gen Tesla Roadster

I'd be willing to bet that that car will never make it to production with those specs... but happy to be proven wrong. Great design, i'll say that though.

I'm surprised that road tyres are even produced that can handle that amount of acceleration and speed.

Re: A bill in congress to stifle EV's and alternative energy generally

Well, at least Scotland had the sense to tell our fearless leader to "drop dead" when he threw a tantrum over an off-shore wind farm a few years back. Politics aside, it was funny. https://www.treehugger.com/energy-policy/donald-trump-throws-tantrum-over-wind-power-scotland.html https://w...

^ Can't disagree, and as an outsider it's all very insular and backward - but suffice to say, it doesn't mean that the bill gets passed.

... 'Make America Great Again' - the only problem with that is where they measured the baseline.

Re: Back-In Parking

^ a much more sensible approach to parking, especially is the main road through a town is also the one that you need to park on - which is probably more common in the US than most other places come to think of it. Safer too, as you can load your shopping into the car from the sidewalk/ pavement, and...

if/when you disassemble the entire battery pack, I may be interested in a spare cell or two.

Surprised the car was grey imported from the UK, when Japan and Oz are so much closer...

Re: Weird Charging Curve

That notch happens very often. The triplets usually have two notches where stey stop charging for some minutes. One at 30% SOC (lasts longer than 15min, usually) and one at 70% SOC, which usually is shorter. If the car goes to 30%, that stopping point is almost 100% guaranteed. For the 70% pause, i...

Re: Solar panel charging

Maybe the most simple way to charge an EV with solar power is this: http://myenergi.uk/product/zappi/ It's not exactly cheap (but then again, EVSEs rarely are). Since it can adjust charging current with the amount of PV production available, you probably can't get much more optimized than this. Of ...

Re: Weird Charging Curve

I would have thought that even though the chart appears to show zero current for a time bucket of a good few minutes, in reality it's actually showing the lowest kilo-wattage in that time bucket increment. This, I would assume, would mean that rather than dropping down to zero for a few minutes,, it...

Re: Peugeot iOn radio missing Bluetooth phone options - how to upgrade firmware?

Does the media selection become available if you connect a USB drive with media on it? This is a significant difference to the I-MIEV, as this was supplied with a Pioneer generic head unit, that is not coded in any way, nor has Bluetooth, nor has any connectivity menu - i.e. a very typical older gen...

evidence of a considerable de-skilling in new world ways of thinking Vs the old. 'Ill use my eyes and brain before I use my smartphone Vs ill plug that in and my smartphone will give me the answer'.
