Re: Trouble locating replacement windshield

Standard insurance in the UK covers the front windshield as a non-recorded claim, normally with a small excess of about $75... meaning that it does not effect your policy at all. This is to make a provision for the front screen only. The idea being that having a good front windshield delivers a grea...

Re: Car Insurance and Breakdown Cover

I paid £410 fully comprehensive insurance in the UK, with 12 years protected no claims discount. For some reason there are fewer insurers willing to cover EVs in the UK for now, so less competition makes the prices higher. But that's also London, which is high for car insurance. Breakdown cover: che...

Re: Noisy AC radiator fan

Just had the time to inspect and fix this. Removed the plastic tray on the front underside of vehicle and two of the rubber feet bushings on the AC compressor were missing, which meant that the AC body was rattling on the cross bracket that it sits on. Poor design, as 3 of the 4 feet are just bump s...

Re: Mitsubishi website

They may be required to supply the parts, but they are not required to supply them at what we would call a rational price point. Precisely. And if iMiev parts today aren't exactly cheap, imagine a few years down the line... :? The Lean approach to car parts after-sales supply would imply that manuf...

Re: Highway cruising

As one who now regularly drives the i-MiEV at its upper limit keeping with the flow of traffic on local freeways (a necessity in the HOV lane so as not to become a road boulder), I have a few observations - 1. Not much different than driving any small car and being buffeted by crosswinds or big rig...

Re: Mitsubishi website

In the US, aren't car manufacturers required by law to provide 10 years of replacement parts availability for any model year? If so, then Mitsu should be on the hook to make parts available for iMiEVs until 2026 or so, right? Wait. Were the 2016s ever actually released in the US? They may be requir...

Re: Highway cruising

Maybe it's just me, but I find the handling of the car gets iffy at the high end of its speed range. It feels like I'm being pushed around by the wind of my own making. I find that too, narrow tyres and high sides and a light vehicle make it more susceptible to cross winds, especially on open roads...

Noisy AC radiator fan

New issue this. I noticed the last few times I activated the AC, that there was this graunching on start-up, which I initially got anxious about, but then discovered it to be the AC rad fan on start up only. Once it's at normal RPM, its fine. I cant see anything fouling the fan, nor anthing caught t...

Re: The Peel P50; 3 wheel micro EV for an adult & shopping bag!

RE the Peel P50 - there is a reason these never became mainstream and scooters (2 and 3 wheelers) did. The words death trap spring to mind. Not powerful enough as a 50cc, and not capable of adopting a larger engine with those tiny wheels. Tiny wheels like those... never a good idea. The larger the w...
