Re: ChargePoint Charging Question

This is my method as well, connect charger, swipe fob, connect car. However, some EVSE stations (load balanced ones) are slow to activate 240 and the miev disables the charger, it never attempts again. If the EVSE takes over 3 seconds to activate AC it fails for me. That's quite annoying. I thought ...

Re: Charging experience in the UK

There are a increasing number of charge points that my 2010 doesn't like. Most of these newer chargers also do load balancing and there is a slight delay in activation between plugging the car in and the EVSE throwing the relay for power. My miev wants active power rails within 3 seconds of the car ...

Re: New owner in Iceland Reykjavík

That sounds about right, with the heating on 3rd click and around 0 C I also had about 70km of range. The wind is often one of the bigger issues, I mostly have head winds when driving to work, it's noticeable in the charge time at work. I often make up for it on the way back. The front is pretty slo...

I call mine dustbuster or vacuumcleaner, mostly. Or just miev.

Re: New owner in Iceland Reykjavík

The pack fell under the 8 year warranty for the i, it also helped that I purchased that car the week before, so I had warranty regardless. The Mitsubishi dealer made it clear to me that that pricing for the batteries isn't as bad as some of the sources say. He quoted 2500 euro for a Outlander PHEV p...

Re: New owner in Iceland Reykjavík

Mine was registered in NL on 29-11-2010, it's probably from a bit before that date. Mine doesn't even have a * to denote freezing temperatures like the newer models have. It does have Chademo, and the pack was replaced last year september. It had 58k kilometers when I bought it and a very similar ra...

Re: Hopeful owner looking for consultation - EVSE - wiring..

It's easier for me in the EU as everything is what you consider to be a level 2 :) I just bought a 2nd hand EVSE and hooked that up, pulled some outdoor cable and mounted it on the wall, pretty painless really. It's hardwired to the mains as most plugs are not well suited to high currents for prolon...

Re: BMW i3 Extended Test Drive

I've driven both the i3 and i8, apart from the CFRP they don't compare in the slightest. As far as driving the i3, it's pretty good. BMW still has quite the knack for making a decent driving car, but it's hard to tell with the tires what they are. The steering wheel tells you pretty well what it's d...

Re: Oil production reductions

There is a bit of a "who will blink first" problem here, and it will probably sort itself out in due course. It's not just the US, the governments from a few EU countries as well as the US are providing compelling incentives, and soon also emissions regulations and restrictions that will f...

Re: Riversimple

It's still not very versatile, our i-Miev can outrun it, so it isn't a particularly powerful on either. I've looked at commercial small 5kWh fuel cells, but it's just not cost effective, not even close. A small jet turbine could work, they light almost anything that looks like diesel, but they tend ...
