Re: RBS, ! , turtle error. What was your cause and fix?

A weak or old 12V starter battery seems to be the most likely culprit, so check that first. If the problem persists then a code reading will be the next step. The i909 reader mentioned earlier seems to be a good value and works for the Miev.

Re: Donating it, sorry--2012 SE, 24,000k miles = $5,000 ?? MASSACHUSETTS

@wmc i haven't gotten any recalls done either, the main reason is that the mechanic said he would have to drain the pack completely in order to swap out the motor control unit. The fact is that there would be no voltage on the lines from the pack if the key was off, plus he could pull the main disco...

Re: pcb on 8 modules cell pack

The left board is a Cell Monitoring Board that is found in each module whether 4 or 8 cell. The right hand board is only found in the 8-cell modules. The CMBs report voltage and temperature to the BMS and also control balancing circuits. The main BMS is in a little plastic box under the rear seat. E...

Re: pcb on 8 modules cell pack

There are two boards in an 8-cell module, the first or primary board has the controller chips, and the secondary board just reports the voltage and temperatures to the primary board. Does this look like what you found?

Re: The Necessity For Grounding An External Gasoline Generator Used For Emergency Charging?

i don't know how driving a metal rod into the earth could possibly make a portable generator "safe" since current must return to its source and the alternator current in a genset is floating with respect to the earth--no current would ever flow to the earth. The reason a grounded rod into ...

This was posted on another forum as plugging in to the MMCS. The other side only has some passives.

Re: RBS light Alarm

Most likely culprit is a weak 12V battery. Voltage measurements under load would need to be made to determine if it is good or not.

Re: Using the battery as an emergency supply

... I am not sure what you mean by direct vs ready more. Connecting directly to the pack voltage at the chademo terminals vs connecting to the terminals inside the Motor Control Unit while ON in READY mode. When the car is ON there is additional overhead loads. Good luck with finding a low-cost cha...

Re: Using the battery as an emergency supply

i just did it to learn how to get access to the pack voltage terminals. i made some 9mm terminals to plug in, but haven't used them for either charging or as a power supply. This was back before i could read the CAN buss data so don't know what kind of messages get sent out by the car while doing th...
