Re: not charging my iON, cell or CMU or BMU problems

By "digital component" do you mean the LTC6802 chip shown in this photo, or are you talking about the microcontroller or CAN buss chips? The LTC is a generic part and could be de-soldered replaced with a new one. Inspect all those little yellow chip capacitors for cracked solder joints or ...

i can troubleshoot and repair the board if you can't find someone nearby to do it.

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

Howdy CZeroOwner and welcome to the forum, thanks for sharing your findings--every little bit helps. My car is in the shop to have the pack replaced and haven't been keeping up with the PID work.

Re: not charging my iON, cell or CMU or BMU problems

Howdy albert, Sorry I didn't think thru this module swapping clearly-- the cell numbers are determined by the BMU and then programmed and stored on the CMU (cell monitoring) boards located on each module. The BMU doesn't care where in the pack the module is physically located, and the CMU will still...

Yes, type 51R is a designation used by some of the auto parts stores. Also walmart has them.

Re: not charging my iON, cell or CMU or BMU problems

Swapping two modules is a great idea, it may be a lot of work, but maybe it doesn't take too long to open the pack after you have done it a time or two... When the key in at ON but not to START or in READY mode, then the main contactors in the pack are not energized and no pack current can flow. Dur...

Re: not charging my iON, cell or CMU or BMU problems

It sounds like the cell that you changed was not bad. The problem is likely on the circuit board rather than the cell itself being bad. A single cell on a workbench can be tested by charging and discharging manually to determine it's capacity and whether or not it is defective. This could be done on...

Re: Feb 2012 Miev with Pack Trouble at 40k miles

i got word today that a new pack was ordered for kiev1 on December 28, and that the pack tool kit has been delivered to their shop. They have another pack sitting near the lift that was previously ordered for the white miev owned by a woman who works downtown right across the street from the free Le...

Re: Range and Charging Observations and Questions

There may be a power difference between defrost and heat during a pre-heat session but i havent tried to measure that, but in either case the water heater is running from the pack voltage. If your charging method can supply that preheat power then no apparent remaining range loss is seen, but Level1...

Re: High Mileage Battery Health

i agree you need to look at it when it's fully charged, you have several clusters of low cells across the pack giving a ragged appearance. The 0.125V difference between high and lowest cell should get much lower at full charge. When you have a bad cell this difference will cause a reduction in range...
