Re: CAN messages for pre-heat / cool and charge start/stop delays

i looked at this awhile back and recorded the CAN buss data while using the remote to turn on defrost. i have the raw data capture file and a .csv file, and a spreadsheet if you want to pursue looking at some data. If is difficult because we don't know the CAN Ids and don't know meaning of the data ...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Good idea, i'll have to run some cycles on it and see how it does. Since the waffle plate is off there is no path to charge the caps, but i could rig something up to put ac thru the contacts. Too bad there is no way to inspect the contacts without destroying the relay. i was hoping this relay would ...

Re: [POLL] On-Board Charger and DC/DC Converter

i've added a 5th question concerning interruption of AC power during charging, if you could go back and edit your responses for this, thanks.

That's an interesting clue--It only takes once to cause damage.

i had assumed that nothing like that had occurred, but this raises a possible culprit for your box failure.

Re: Couldn't shift past R - very strange

i would guess a cable or linkage sticking, maybe needs some lube or adjustment.

Put the key to ON so the steering wheel unlocks and you should be able to shift thru the gears without being in READY, just to test and crawl under to inspect.

Re: happy new owner

Awesome news to hear. i think you got a great deal, that's a bargain price for a slightly used EV with all the bells and whistles. you can check the build sheet for your VIN to see what options it came with. just copy out the link and edit with your vin, then paste it in the browser location or URL ...

Relay testing

i soldered some tiny wirewrap wires to the AC relay coil pins and measured 9.9R with relay off and 0.2R when closed. With 5VDC supply it was drawing 83mA. The spec is only .1R of contact resistance, but i didn't zero out the meter and know that my meter leads have .1 or .2 themselves--so it's nearly...

DCQC CAN buss

Network diagram, DCQC seems to have a separate CAN buss as you said the OBC is not involved

Coulomb's Relay Theory

@bambou, welcome to the forum, and i think yes to your question--if the cord were jerked out suddenly then the controller would not have time for a graceful shutdown sequence and it could cause the same sort of damage we are seeing. @ skylogger, thanks for the detailed information on testing the AC ...

Re: help with used purchase

Yes that is it exactly, based upon the energy used in the most recent previous ~15 miles, this is an estimate of how far you could travel at that energy rate, and it is a moving average also. So If you conserve dramatically by coasting or a light foot on the pedal, you can fake it out and slow down ...
