Re: Quick help with charger replacement please

This is the high voltage cable from the charger to the MCU . Is this silver sheathing important? It doesn't exist on the 2012 It is likely for abrasion and cut resistance, although it might provide a minimal amount of EMI noise filtering, but the spacing of the webbing is too coarse for any real EM...

Perseverance Pays Off in Successful Repair!

Way to go Larry, great job on getting it fixed--and thanks for the offer for additional diagnostic testing.

And now we have some clues of where to look when the snubber caps are blown, such as in Jay's charger.

i think the burnt by-pass resistors such as in 1pk's case will be a different culprit.

Re: Help please. I have parasites

When you plug in to charge and let it charge until the charger cuts off--does the "fuel" gauge read the full 16 bars? What is the Range Remaining gauge reading after a full charge? How far is your commute and what does the fuel gauge read after one way and after the round trip? Use the tri...

Re: Firmware for charger, BMU, CMUs

Here is a quick shot of the 2012 BMU board.

There are several empty thru-hole connector slots, possibly for JTAG and eeprom? programming

IC1 is Mitsubishi MH8106F 115A105 U0, 144-pins

IC2 is 20-pin 2338A1 SKA [TRIANGLE MARK] 1917 1917C00MDA

Metal Current Sense Resistors

The R232 metal current sense resistor size is about 2512. i think it is made by Vishay, where "L" indicates mOhm, and is rated about 3W, e.g. WSLP

Re: help locating a used on board charger

Those thick orange wires are the output high voltage of the charger. They run over to the positive and negative terminals of the battery pack located beneath the small access panel in the Motor Control Unit, MCU. There is a connector between the two boxes to make it easy to install and disconnect, e...

Re: And now my I will not charge!!

Were those circled diodes damaged?

Was the white solder pad strip already scorched, or did that happen during the de-soldering?

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger, DC-DC Converter

That is 8milli Ohms, 0.008 Ohms. It is probably a metal resistor and not damaged at all, but the circuit board in its vicinity looks to have gotten hot and discolored.

Twisted Sister Resistor

Good Catch Skylogger Larry! That is a very important circuit, and that resistor is too. i think i made a post several pages ago about those two big chips that are jumping across the isolation slot cut in the circuit board, PC312 and 313, which are Broadcom A782T isolation amplifiers [with fixed gain...

AC Detect / Present

Here are my notes on the AC detection coming out the side of the doghouse on the bottom board--not sure i will draw this up unless it proves necessary, but here it is for placeholder.
