Re: Almost an owner ... but need advice

There's no display in the i-MiEV that's equivalent to the Leaf's battery health gauge, but some people use Canion (q.v.) to get more detailed info on their batteries. "All bars on" and "100%" are the same thing. The only "bar" display in the i-MiEV is the charge gauge, ...

Re: happy new owner

Only thing quite weird is there is NO seat heater, just a never holed out place in dash where toggle switch would have been. Since we have the remote, not too concerned, though. Guess one could always get an aftermarket 12V pad, although I would be afraid daughter would just run down her battery by...

Like how the banks don't mind when you rob them, because they're insured?

Re: Any tips to damaging the main battery?

I don't feel bad about it in the absolute slightest. Warranty work keeps my fellow technicans employed. I am certain our dealership generates as much revenue in warranty work as retail work. Maybe even more. It actually helps my local economy. It might benefit the dealers, but clearly it penalizes ...

Re: Supplemental cooling for the charger.

I was shocked, I tell you, I was shocked, as up until now I had considered the engineering on our i-MiEV to be excellent. It simply never occurred to me that, with liquid cooling, there would be any thermal issues, and certainly did not expect high case temperatures. I don't think it's been proven,...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger, DC-DC Converter

In case anyone is interested, an expensive portable CHAdeMO unit may well be cheaper than a new charger from Mitsubishi, and at least offer the option of charging at home (or having along on long trips) while troubleshooting the broken charger or looking for a used replacement. For example (I have ...
