Re: Better charging controls

has any one attempted to external control start/stop charging with a timer by triggering the J17xx charge plug button switch ?

Re: using a Lev50 pack for solar

I've been thinking about this as well, so far: Charging: Use level 2 at 3kw AC via the regular AC & vehicle charger setup; once the PV inverter is turning on, either via the grid or an islanded-subgrid. This way, the pack is maintained by the vehicle build-in BMS. Dis-charge: the meager 700w-100...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

"The 20A fuse in the OBC has never been found to blow even though it is in the same current path as the MCU fuse? "

How/where is the OBC 20A fuse mounted ? you had hypothesized previously that the MCU 20A may suffered from mechanical vibration. I don't know where the OBC 20A fuse is.

Re: Fuel gauge vs tortoise

I recall a post by ikiev, may be in the OBC trouble-shooting thread, with a reference to a user-manual page, saying that it's not recommended to disconnect the aux for over a month. If so, the computer has to be re-learn, something about the pack status.

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

We have 2x 2017-Boltev and have been quite happy with them...knock-on-wood. In fact, it's the 2016 Volt that is giving us grief, the center screen display has gone dark and at >60kmiles, it's out of warranty. Stealer wants ~$1500 to "try" replacing the HMI (Human Machine Interface). I fail...

Re: Care and Feeding of the OBC/dc-dc

... 3) Cutting AC power off at the power point instead of through EVSE or leaving to fully charge. My main concern is point 3. No one would design an AC charger that is not tolerant to power cut offs at the source. Surely? From the poll thread , the majority of owners who reported failures explicit...

Re: my 2013 Peugeot iOn will not charge :(

... The reason i believe the MCU fuse mechanically fails first is that there is a smaller 20A fuse on the OBC output between the snubber caps and the MCU fuse, which has never blown in anyone's OBC or MCU fuse failure . Over time, the shock and vibrations while driving caused mechanical fatigue of ...

Re: Wallbox Quasar or other bi-directional chademo

wonder how the BMS activation work ? charging is just the standard Chamedo protocol, but pulling from the pack is normally handled through the motor drive circuitry. If BMS info is being passed through the Chamedo, then I guess the BMS can be external to the iMiev. I've been thinking about this off ...

dc chamedo charge port ? a must for me, especially with such tiny pack. Wish our 2016 Volt has fast charge
